like facing forward in the car...
drinking whole milk...
and feeding myself...
...I could get used to this.

Lily is One!
On the 28th of March, Lily Marie Patterson turned one year old! We had some family and friends over to celebrate the big occasion.
Singing "Happy Birthday"
Blowing kisses to her adoring fans
Tasting the cake - strawberry of course, cause it's pink! I had hoped she'd make a big mess, but she was content just to stick her hand in it.
With her proud Mommy and Daddy
With her new baby doll
Lots of friends!

Growing up too fast
She's looking more like a little girl and less like a baby everyday.
This is her favorite expression right now. She has the cutest little "ooohh" to go with those round lips. We call it her "discovery" sound.
Looking outside for our neighbor's dog. She's got the "woof woof" down.
Patty-cake with aunt Missa

Wake Up Call
One morning last week Lily woke up particularly early (6:00am) and was ready to start her day. So after I stumbled out of bed (wish I were more of a morning person), changed her diaper, fed her breakfast, we both crawled back in bed with Daddy (who of course was still sleeping!) I thought maybe (against all odds) Lily might fall back asleep and I could get a little more rest. But, true to her personality, she was ready to play and spotted the phone beside our bed. She immediately reached for it and then put her hand up to her ear. So, I handed her the phone thinking this would buy me some more "rest" time while she played with the buttons. A few minutes later, our phone rang. I thought, "I wonder who it is-it's kind of early for someone to be calling..." but the caller ID said "Private Name Private Number." As I said Hello, I heard the other voice say, "This is the Flower Mound Police Department...we just received a 911 call from this address." I was shocked! I couldn't believe Lily had managed to dial 911! Once I got over my disbelief I managed to tell the dispatcher that there was no emergency, but that my 11 month old daughter had been playing with the phone. Whoops! Shortly after I hung up, our doorbell rang twice. We opened the door to a police woman who stopped by to check things out. (which I'm glad they did just in case something really had been wrong!) We again explained the situation to which she chuckled and left after quickly looking around. What a way to start the day! Needless to say, nobody went back to sleep that morning. Guess we'll stick to the toy phone from here on out.
