wow...i have a two year old

Happy 2nd B-day, Lily Marie!
The full-length celebratory post will have to wait til I have more brainpower. I've been on my feet all day in preparation for our family party tonight. It was a blast! Tomorrow morning we're having a few of Lily's friends over to celebrate toddler style. I'll have pictures and stories at another time...just lost my train of thought...oh, I must say that this week I was inspired to actually plan for the parties in hopes of avoiding the usual "day of stressed out nervous breakdown" while trying to completely clean, prep, and make last minute runs to Target. And it worked! Today, thirty minutes before party time, I can actually say that I was in good spirits and had not attacked my sweet husband (though I was still in my pajamas while the guests began arriving.) But I think you Type A people might be on to something here. Maybe I'll give it another shot to make sure it just wasn't some kind of a fluke thing. (Needless to say, Josh was so proud.) I'll get back with you about the parties...and about baby #2. We know what it is!!! I'll let you know hopefully tomorrow!

An amazing God, an amazing couple, and an amazing story

They're engaged!

Our dear friends Afshin and Meredith were engaged Thursday, March 13!!! Mer accompanied Shin to Alaska where he was speaking at a youth deal, and he proposed at the top of a mountain at a five star restaurant complete with rose petals, red tulips, journal reading, and amazing food.

If you are at all familiar with their story, you know it is a testimony of God's faithfulness and sovereignty. Josh and I are THRILLED to have two of our favorite people becoming one. Mer and I have known each other since we were babies in the nursery together at church. She has always been one of my dearest friends. One that I can be ridiculously silly with but also share the deepest parts of my soul. We've shared each stage of life together, so now I'm excited to walk through this time of engagement and marriage with her as well.

When Afshin first came to Dallas, he worked for my dad at Prestonwood. Our family adopted him as our Persian brother. And people really thought we were related! He then became the college minister at Pwood where Josh and I (and Mer!) were under his leadership. When these two started dating, it seemed too good to be true, and we've shared so many great memories together.

Friday night, Meredith's sweet mom and Afshin put together a wonderful dinner to celebrate their engagement. It was so neat seeing family and friends of all ages who have played a part in their individual lives and/or their relationship. We can't wait until November when these two will begin their new life together.

Tri-Class-a-thon Complete

Saturday marked the end of our 8 week Tri-class-a-thon at Lifetime. Each week we had to attend five classes: 2 cardio, 2 strength, and 1 yoga/pilates to earn points. We didn't do so great on the points end, but it was great accountability and lots of fun working out together. And Lily always had at least one friend in the child center! Kristyn, Faith, and I (we missed you Holly and Amy!) participated in a mock triathalon in which we did a 45 minute spin class, a 45 minute strength class, and then a 45 minute yoga class. It was challenging, but the instructors were great and kept it very upbeat and exciting. Now that it's over, I'm not sure what the next workout adventure will be. A lot of people are really into Crossfit right now (my husband especially), but I'm thinking it's too intense while I'm pregnant. Hopefully I'll just stay in this rhythm of classes and ride it on out til baby #2 is here in August. I'd better at the rate I've been eating girl scout cookies! ;)

Family night

Friday night we had a family night with the Bleeckers, Rogers, and Hollemans that consisted of good food, noisy toys, Disney movies, and plenty of laughter. Far too often we go out together and leave the kids at home with sitters, so this was a nice change. It was so fun seeing the kids interact with one another. When we first walked in, Evan came over to Lily and gave her a big hug (without any prompting!) and then just held on! We had time to pull out our cameras and video camera before they dropped their embrace. It was too cute. Here are a few pictures of the night...

Doesn't Lily look so cute in a ponytail? It's not easy getting her to wear one. I usually end up bribing her with chocolate chips so she'll keep it in. Hey- whatever works. You'll notice she's pulled it out by the last picture. :)

Helping around the house

With this crazy TX weather, we've had to get a little creative in order to keep the toddler entertained. Lily loved filling in as Daddy's asst. handyman and Mommy's kitchen apprentice.

Lily "playing" on the ladder while Josh and our friend Brad installed a new ceiling fan.

Lily loves watching the mixer go round and round.
